Amelia and i became pen friends at the age of 8. I thought it was so wonderful to have someone to write to on the other side of the world as i live in Australia. 
Over the years we remained in contact and i loved hearing about her life and work - i always imagined her as Mary Poppins as i know how she loved her job and the kids she looked after - I woukd hear about how the kids would still remain close to Amelia even in to adulthood. 
It was my absolute privalege to have known Amelia.
